From Dreamer to Engineer to Designer

I’ve always been a dreamer, reaching for something bigger, but my path wasn’t always a straight line. Growing up, I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, captivated by the way clothing could not only express who we are but boost our confidence. But as a girl with a natural talent for problem-solving, I found myself drawn to engineering. There was something uniquely fulfilling about creating practical, functional solutions for real-world problems. I pursued a career in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, spending four years honing my skills in the trades.

During that time, I excelled in my field, working alongside incredibly talented colleagues and solving complex challenges. But there was one question that always nagged at me: Why does workwear for women have to be so bland, ill-fitting, and masculine?

The Problem: Workwear That Doesn’t Work for Women

While working alongside male colleagues, I couldn’t help but notice the glaring lack of stylish, comfortable workwear for women. Sure, there were durable options designed for men, but they left us with limited choices—and too often, I felt disconnected from what I was wearing. Women in the trades deserve better—workwear that not only supports us in doing our best work but also lets us feel confident, powerful, and, yes, comfortable.

Workwear should never hold anyone back. It should make you feel empowered. But at that time, the options available didn’t meet those basic expectations. That’s when the idea hit me: the world of workwear for tradeswomen needed to change—and I was the one to make it happen.

Bridging Two Worlds: Fashion Meets Function

So, with a heart full of purpose, I set out to create Konstellation—a brand that merges my love for both the trades and fashion. My goal was simple: to create work clothes that weren’t just functional but also celebrated femininity, comfort, and personal style.

I wanted to inspire women in the trades to embrace their uniqueness and show young girls everywhere that the trades are a space where they can thrive, all while staying true to who they are. Women in the trades deserve to feel empowered, whether they’re swinging a hammer, wiring a circuit, or solving mechanical problems. With Konstellation, I set out to prove that women can have it all: durability, functionality, and the personal flair that reflects our true selves.
